Temple Beth Am means "House of the People." We are a congregation that values community, worship, social action, education, holiness, fiscal responsibility, involvement, and ethical behavior.
For over 60 years the leadership and staff of Temple Beth Am have provided community for Reform Jews throughout the Hudson County, NJ area.
We have a long-standing tradition of member participation because we encourage congregants to fully participate in Temple life through involvement in our numerous committees and by becoming active on our Board.

President's Message
More than 60 years ago, a group of people formed the first and only Reform Synagogue in Bayonne, NJ. They were motivated by a desire to practice Judaism in a liberal environment. Thus, Temple Beth Am, the “House of the People,” was born.
At Temple Beth Am, the eternal elements of Judaism are expressed in a language and form that is meaningful to the contemporary mind and spirit. Ceremonies and services add beauty and dignity to Jewish life and lead to a fuller appreciation of Jewish moral, ethical, and religious values.
Temple Beth Am is a welcoming community where members connect with each other and with centuries of Jewish tradition. We celebrate the diversity of our membership where everyone is welcome regardless of age, marital status, sexual orientation, nontraditional families, Jew by birth, or Jew by choice. We come together to worship, socialize, celebrate our simchas, and mourn our losses as a community with a legacy of devotion and commitment.
Temple Beth Am is home. It’s family. We hope that you will spend time with us on Shabbat and the holidays. Our doors are open to you and your friends and families.
